Hour 5: Metadata / net.minecraft.util.IIcon appears to be gone from 1.8

First off, I'm using 1.8 and I recognize the book was written for 1.7.*.  I managed to figure out how to make items in 1.8 using the tutorial on wuppy's site ( http://www.wuppy29.com/minecraft/1-8-tutorial/updating-1-7-to-1-8-part-2-basic-items/#sthash.RfTJvU4A.aZ2OyEHq.dpbs ) and while it was rocky at first, I feel like I've got a decent understanding of the differences of a basic item.

However, when it comes to the section about adding metadata, I've run into a stonewall.  It appears that net.minecraft.util.IIcon doesn't exist anymore and this causes all of the IICon stuff to fail.

I realize 1.8 is still new, but it's what I'm stuck with for now so if anyone has dealt with this change, I'd appreciate any advice.

Hi,

Currently, I'm working on a document for the errata which will guide you through updating your mod to 1.8. 

Metadata blocks for 1.8 work hugely differently. It would be near impossible to explain in a message like this, because it would be at least 2 pages long. Instead, I'd suggest you take a look at the open source 1.8 code for my mods here: https://github.com/wuppy29/WuppyMods/tree/1.8. The Peacefulpack mod contains a block called BlockPeacefulOres which contains 5 metadatas or blockstates as they are called in 1.8. You should be able to figure out what's different using the code in ModBlocks, BlockPeacefulOres and the json files for the block.

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate the link. I'll dig through it this weekend.

Any rough ETA for the errata? (I won't hold you to it, I promise. I just was wondering.)
