This is a friendly reminder that registration for the September 2015 SAME San Diego Post Luncheon and Tour of the Pure Water San Diego Advanced Water Purification Facility is open, and your RSVP is requested by this Friday, September 4^th.

This month, SAME San Diego will be attending a presentation of the Pure Water San Diego program and a tour of the City of San Diego Advanced Water Purification Facility used to demonstrate that recycled water can be purified to meet all federal and state drinking water standards.  Lunch will be provided on site, and a brief Post meeting will be held in advance of the presentation and tour.

 

Summary:

 

Pure Water San Diego: The City of San Diego is addressing the need for a new locally controlled, drought-proof water supply. The City currently depends on importing 85 percent of its water from Northern California and the Colorado River. A Water Reuse Study, Recycled Water Study and Water Purification Demonstration Project determined that it is feasible for San Diego to use water purification technology to produce one-third of San Diego's drinking water supply locally by 2035. Pure Water San Diego, the City's phased, multi-year program to produce purified water to supplement San Diego's drinking water supply, is underway.
