Jill Togawa and Purple Moon Dance Project present
“When Dreams Are Interrupted - SF”

dancers:
Sharon Sato, Ruth Ichinaga, Arisika Razak, Michelle Fletcher

musicians:
Laura Inserra, Claudia Cuentas

Sunday May 3, 2009 at 2 p.m.
at the historic Julia Morgan-designed Japanese YWCA building
at 1830 Sutter in SF’s Japantown.

When Dreams Are Interrupted invites us to witness the profound imprint of the forced removal and mass evacuation of Japanese communities in 1942.  The work-in-progress weaves personal stories, dance, visual art and live music. Collaborators are choreographer Jill Togawa, visual artist Ellen Bepp, musicians Claudia Cuentas and Laura Inserra and dancers Michelle Fletcher, Ruth Ichinaga, Arisika Razak and Sharon Sato. (more info available on our website www.purplemoondance.org)

Following the performance is “Re-imagining Pieces of Japantowns: A Community Talk” considering the intersection of art, community history and memory, and a reception.

Suggested $15 sliding scale (no one turned away for lack of funds)
reserved seating.
For more information, volunteer, donor and sponsorship opportunities, please call 415-552-1105, email: pro...@purplemoondance.org or visit our web site: www.purplemoondance.org

Please forward widely!
