Here is a Google Earth plot of the position of Samadhi V at local noon today. As you can see, Kelly & Phillip are continuing to progress towards California as planned.
The northeast Pacific high pressure area (NEPHPA) has moved west about 5 degrees since yesterday. This unexpected movement will result in lighter winds than hoped along the planned track for the next few days. However, by next Tuesday, the NEPHPA is forecast to move well back to the west of their position, so the winds should improve although the forecast winds will be more astern than the beam reach that was hoped for.
The plot is sized to also show the position and expected track of the two tropical storms in the east Pacific. Tropical depression Enrique is dissipating rapidly as it heads northwest into cooler waters. Hurricane Felicia is moving westward through warm waters directly towards Hawaii now although it is expected to diminish in intensity prior to landfall on the islands.
I suppose the bad news about the forecast for the remaining week or so of the passage to California of Samadhi V is that the winds will be lighter than expected. The good news is that no storms (or high winds) are forecast along their intended track.
Best regards,
Pat
