Samadhi is working her way through the area of light winds near the northeast Pacific high pressure area (NEPHPA). The expected turn towards the California coast will probably occur within the next 18 hours if it hasn't already since the plot is about 5 hours old. Samadhi continued to be within a few hours of her expected progress towards California.
The NEPHPA is expected to move to the southwest and dissipate during the next couple of days. Samadhi V should experience good westerly and northerly winds until arriving within a couple hundred miles of the coast -- then the winds may get stronger as the low pressure area now off of Alaska moves south to entertain in California.
Tropical storm (actually now hurricane) Felicia is moving towards Hawaii right along the track used by Samadhi back in May. Ironically, this means that the winds along that track are now about 120 knots compared to the 3 or 4 knots experienced by Samadhi in that area.
Tropical storm Enrique has turned to a more northerly track, but is expected to dissipate as it reaches the colder waters to the north. Neither storm should be a factor in the passage from Hawaii to California by Samadhi V.
(Kathy & I are in Canada this week, but would be happy to answer any questions you might have.)
Best regards,
Pat
