Samadhi V covered a lot of ground -- or ocean -- today and the good news is that most of it was under sail. At this rate, and there is no reason to think they can not maintain it, they should arrive at Pillar Point Harbor by Saturday morning -- possibly even Friday night.
If you are among those interested in joining me on the dock to be there when they arrive, let me know and I'll make sure that you get the best information about exactly when they should be entering port. (They have an excellent record of accurately predicting the timing of such events.)
As you can see, Samadhi is still chasing the elusive northeast Pacific high pressure area (NEPHPA) which was expected to be in the vicinity of their turn. The NEPHPA is being pushed east and south by the big trough of clouds that is north of Samadhi's planned track. Fortunately, the NEPHPA in its wanderings has stayed south of their track, so they should continue to have winds from the southwest until after they pass it.
They will probably experience pretty high winds from the north on their last two days at sea, but these winds should diminish as they approach within thirty miles of the coast.
We are now planning an informal get together to celebrate the crew's homecoming (and to eat Kelly's birthday cake -- she will be 31 tomorrow) at the Dutch Goose in Menlo Park next Sunday. Please let Kathy (ka...@groves.ws) know if you are interested in coming.
Best regards,
Pat
