It was such a pleasure to speak with you on the phone. I was not expecting
to find someone who also knows how to prepare raw recipes. And someone
who is so passionate about gardening and living well.
I am new to all of this, but I have a passion too, for learning new things with
groups of other motivated people. I am so excited to meet you and see everything
that you are doing. It is refreshing to hear such aliveness over the phone. :)
Alittle bit about me......
Just recently in 2009 (after the prop 8 stuff happened), I learned that almost
40% of homeless youth are Queer. Being LGBTQI myself, I had to do
something right away. So my best friend and I decided to walk across
We spent 9 months on the walk and just got back in December. Since then,
we have created a nonprofit (Operation Shine America) to raise awareness
of the homeless youth epidemic, nationally and locally.
In 2005 - 2008 I was bedridden with stomach Lupus and very depressed. I
had to become a raw foodest, because nothing else was working. Now I am
able to walk again! And my health is returning in many ways. :)
Now I am also a strong advocate for homeless youth and a Human Rights activist.
:) I had no idea I would ever be doing this. I had no idea I would ever one day
be a raw foodest. And now I am making a documentary of Operation Shine
to show in the sundance film festival. I am not sure what happened. Some
times I am still shocked at how much my life has changed in just 1.5 years.
Lol. But I know it has something to do with surrendering. I just gave up on
controlling my life and things started getting better - so fast. But I have no
idea where I am going and I don't know what will even become of me. But
I am more available now and not as afraid. I used to be afraid of everything.
When my life begins to be filled with pain or fear or physical illness, I know
now that it is because I am holding on too tight. I simply have to practice
to let go. This (ironically) is still hard at times. Lol. Even though every time
I do it.....BIG things happen so fast that brings my entire life into balance.
I am not sure why I am telling you all of this. Maybe I will be able to join
your amazing journey with the gardens and the co-op. If so, I know I will
be a grateful and hard working team mate. If not, that is okay too. I am just
happy to have come across you and I look forward to speaking again. What
you are doing is changing the world! I can feel it so strongly. And I am so
grateful that people like you are showing up en masse now.
It is incredible and beautiful. And I appreciate being alive at this time.
Talk to you soon!
