Hi,

we setup an agentless installation on a central salt master host to manage our minions via salt-ssh. All works fine. There is no salt master service running on the salt master host.

It seams, that the job cache of the salt master is not cleared automatically even though the master configuration uses the default values (https://docs.saltproject.io/en/latest/topics/jobs/index.html).

How is a the job cache cleared on the salt master in  agentless installation?
Is any additional configuration required?

Environment:
  • salt 3005.1
  • running in a virtual python environment
  • OS Suse Leap 15.4
Any hints are welcome.

Hagen

you kind of said the answer softly without knowing it.

you are not running a master service on the salt master host.

agentless just means the minion doesn't have a service. you do still need the master service running to handle cleanup.
