Hi,

I am having problems with a Windows minion. I am seeing high CPU utilisation on the minion and excessive authentication requests on the master.

Master Authentication requests: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=LbKbFBJv

When I try to run the minion in debug mode it reports an [ERROR   ] An un-handled exception was caught by salt's global exception handler. The minion program then fails.

I can only assume that the service is failing in the same fashion but is being restarted hence the excessive authentication requests.

I am new to Salt and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

THLIG

THLIG,
It looks like a bad value in your config file. In c:\salt\conf\minion, try removing the "%" symbols from line 43. Set the id to a real name like "id: serverX" instead of id: %hostname%. If you still see high CPU, see if it is related to this bug: https://github.com/saltstack/salt/issues/9052

Thanks Shea, that worked a treat! I used %hostname% thinking that would pick up the Windows hostname automatically.
