Hello i'm using Salt Stack 0.14.0 on my Solaris minions. Are there any plans to update the Solaris package to version 0.17.0 like the Linux packages? The Solaris minions fit most of my needs at  'salt 0.14.0' CSWpy-salt version 2.65. Primarily I'd like to be able to display information about my Solaris minions from the halite UI. The Linux ones work perfectly.

Thanks,

Greg Cooper

Greg,

How did you install 0.14.0?  I didn't realize we *ever* packaged for Solaris.

Note that it would be pretty straightforward to update to 0.17 using a git checkout and tag:

    git clone git://github.com/saltstack/salt
    cd salt
    git checkout v0.17.0
    sudo python setup.py install --force

In any case, we'll discuss the possibility of getting Solaris packages created.

Colton,

I installed Salt with the packages from Open CSW. I believe romeotheriault has been building the Solaris packages for Salt but they havent been updated in some time.  I'll look at pulling it down from git but using the Open CSW packages would be preferred.

Hi, I indeed had been maintaining the packages on opencsw but as you've noticed haven't kept up with the newer releases. Primarily because we didn't end up going with salt, yet anyway. The salt-ssh stuff has me looking again :)

I can try to build 0.17 on the opencsw buildfarm but at this point if someone was interested in taking over the package building on opencsw I'd be happy to pass along all my notes/recipes etc.... Just shoot me an email.

I'll dig in the docs but does the salt-ssh stuff add any additional deps?

I'll check what the build looks like see if I can get some new packages out if no-one steps up.

Thanks

Here is the packaging guide that Tom wrote up for this release:  http://docs.saltstack.com/topics/conventions/packaging.html

I think it goes over all of the different packages and deps.

Hopefully we can find someone to take over from you Romeo.  Don't want to lose all your hard work!

Romeo,

Are you working on the Salt Stack creation in Open CSW since salt 0.17.1 has been released?

Hi Romeo,

Could you post your notes on how to build a Solaris pkgutil package for Salt? I found the Solaris installation guide at http://docs.saltstack.com/en/latest/topics/installation/solaris.html but it hasn't been updated for quite a while and I'm experiencing various errors with the 0.14 build at http://www.opencsw.org/packages/CSWpy-salt/.
