places to go out in Geneva

Hi all!

I have the emails of 10 people and it was uncomfortable to copy/paste all each time that I send you an email so, when I saw that the people from the tango lessons already created a google mailing list for sending the emails when they go out, I decided to create one. Yyou can also send emails here or just to the list of people we had, it's equivalent.

For the moment, I send you here some places to go out to dance salsa in Geneva!

* Salseros de hoy organizes open air free salsa dancing in the parks of Perle du Lac (Wednesdays) and English Garden (Saturdays, so today!): http://www.salsa-geneve.com

* At MaD there is salsa-only parties on Thursdays night from 22h (cheap, ~7 chf) and for rock'n roll + salsa on Wednesdays from 20h (for free): http://www.mad.coop/event/

I know some other places, but they are all very small and I don't recommend them... If you know anyone else, feel free to propose!

About the videos, they are still in my camera :P I promise I will send them soon! :)

News: yesterday I found by chance a new place. Every Sunday evening at
Parc de Bastions, in the cafe aside the giant chess boards!

Bad: it's not free (10 chf) and everybody except me was dancing Cuban
salsa there :P (I didn't notice that the music was different so I was
dancing with my friends the one of our club, Puerto Rican salsa).

Good: with the entrance you get a free drink, the place is nice, has a
big terrace so it is not so hot, and there was not too many people.

Hi all, 

Actually I was there last Wednesday from 8:30pm to 10pm. Did not see any of you! Luckily I came across some ex-CERN salsa dancers who had followed a 2-week course in cuban salsa. I won't go tomorrow, but here are a few tips:

If you do want to dance, be there at 8 pm. No-one dares to start, then at 9pm the dance floor is unbelievably crowded.

PS. I received the notification that MAD is organising rock& salsa evenings on Wednesdays, but do they carry on during the summer?

Next time you tell us! Past Wednesday everybody decided not to go at
the very last minute so I also didn't go :P

And you are right, by chance I passed by there few weeks ago after 22h
and I can tell you it was almost impossible to dance, I have never
seen a place so crowded in Geneva!! Well, we could dance in the normal
ground, but almost could not enter into the wooden floor of the dance.
Also, I can tell you that ALL people there was dancing Cuban salsa...
that is why I decided not to go if I don't know of anyone of you going
for sure.

About MaD, I know about that. In winter I went many times to the
Wednesdays rock'n roll parties and it is true that they put a lot of
salsa as well. But... I checked their website now and they removed all
information about soirees :( Also, I checked for their facebook page
for news and found out that the place does not exist anymore!!! :(

Are you all going to be there tonight ? I am willing to revise all the
figures we have learned so far, so I was thinking to take our video
clips as a crib sheet ;) Will any female-dancer join the event ? I use
to be in place later, but taking into account your remarks, I could try
to be present around 8pm.
