The example of the missing viewer for SALSA data files; i..e., HDFView is case in point.

Subsequent automated updates to those external dependencies, once installed in the SALSA environment, might also be considered.

Good afternoon.  Thank you for that suggestion.  Our design intent in the SALSA msi is to include all *dependencies* necessary for running the application.  That said, there are supplementary applications that users may desire for viewing and manipulating input and output files.  An incomplete list might include an hdf viewer for the h5 file, Excel for the .csv file, notepad++ for .out and .lsa files, Acrobat for pdf files; the list probably goes on.   Now, I'll acknowledge that most users probably have all that other stuff (minus the hdf viewer) but I still wouldn't call it a strict dependency.  We'll take a second look at whether it's feasible to bundle it though.  Thanks again.

Hello Clark,

Nice to meet you and thank you for your reply.

If HDFView is the only way to read SALSA h5 files, how is that not a dependency? The user manual is explicit, albeit pointing to a deprecated version, that the only way to read the h5 file is using HDFView.

I've just begun reading the manual having only learned of SALSA this morning. It looks interesting.

Kind regards,

Kelly
