"IRCTC to operate tourist train from Delhi to Goa in January 2012"

The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) recently announced a package for tourists wishing to visit Goa in January, next year. The IRCTC will operate a train exclusively for tourists starting from Delhi on January 21 to Goa and offers sightseeing by dedicated tourist buses and stay at hotels for seven nights and eight days. The train will return to Delhi on January 28, 2012.

IRCTC will also offer provisions for tourists to embark or disembark at spots like Agra and Jaipur during the onward or return journey. The organisers have also set aside an entire day for sightseeing in North and South Goa, according to a report in The Times of India. There are four categories of travel, ranging from budget to deluxe class.

An IRCTC official said that the tariff includes rail travel, transportation for sightseeing and hotel accommodation, including all onboard and off board meals like breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also informed that if travellers book the package till the first week of December, they will get a discount of five per cent under IRCTC's Early Bird scheme.
