Greetings all!
I just wanted to update you on what has been happening with our family.
My wife Julie's sister, Tammy, as you know, died last Thursday (May 28th). Her funeral was yesterday (Wednesday, June 3rd) at Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Medford, MN. Julie, however, was unable to attend. It has been hard but the family, both immediate and extended, have been supportive. One of the times that hospital chaplains ministered to Tammy, in the midst of her agony, she requested a prayer for her niece, Faith. All of this has brought significant peace of mind for Julie as we kept Faith's surgery as scheduled (it had already been postponed three times).
As for Faith, her surgery on Tuesday went extremely well. Unlike my massive vertical scar, she just has three small "holes" and one incision at the "bikini line" roughly 2-3 inches long. She is healing well, according to the doctors, and periodically wandering the hall with her IV pole--when she is not heading to the bathroom, that is. (It takes the body a bit of time to get used to not having a colon!). I suspect that she will be released in a few days, but we have not been given any kind of specific time frame.
As it stands, we are planning to be back in Salmon on Friday, June 12th. We are still talking about when we will make the trek over to Minnesota to see Tammy's grave and visit extensively with the family, but I expect that it will be in late summer.
Well, that's all I have from Colorado at present. Thanks so much for the prayers and your kind emails, they really have meant a lot to us.
