“Edwin,
I regret to inform you that there are compatibility issues with SALMON 2.2.2 and our HPC. Unfortunately, the 2.2.2 version of the software requires specific system architectures that we don’t have and therefore cannot get SALMON to work with our system.
We attempted to resolve several of the issues that occurred during the installation process, but when testing the software with their own provided examples, it would break and end the job early. Despite giving it the necessary math libraries, it needed lower-level system functions that aren’t present on ASA-X, and so the jobs could not run completely.
We apologize for the inconvenience. If there is another piece of software you’d like for us to try installing for you, please let us know and we’d be happy to help.”
They suggested these:
“ Good afternoon,
The problem is that the software expects to have functions available to POSIX filesystems, and ASA-X does not have those functions. If there is a similar piece of software that you’d like us to install, we would be happy to try.
We’ve looked for containers for SALMON, but there’s a bioinformatics software named salmon that is very popular, and we’ve yet to see a docker container for the software you’re requesting. If you manage to find one, we could see about loading it onto ASA-X.
The other alternative would be to look for commercial supercomputers that offer SALMON 2.2.2. This is, understandably, not an appealing solution, but barring the first two options, may be the only one left for this software.”
Please advice.
Thanks
