Apologies for my absolute delay in getting these notes out to all of you! We held a small but mighty Trails Group meeting on April 14th and
here are the meeting notes
The two (or three) main things to come out of it and some things that have moved forward a bit since the meeting are...
1. We are continuing to pursue a conversation with the County's Alternative Mobility Committee to establish a designated bike path fund housed under the county for long-term pathway maintenance - I'm going to work on scheduling a special Trails meeting in May with the Committee so stay tuned for an update when I get that scheduled!
2. Brian's interest in formalizing the trail network on Idaho Department of Lands land out by S-Hill is ongoing, and conversations have started with the School District, BLM, and City. Please connect with Brian (
brian....@idpr.idaho.gov) and/or Travis (
gsea...@blm.gov) if you want to chat about the initial ideas.
3. National Trails Day is June 7th and SVS and the Salmon-Challis National Forest are in talks to host a volunteer trail work day up in the Wagonhammer area. I'd love to connect with SIMBA and whoever else on this too so I'll work on that this month!
P.S. Shoutout to SIMBA & Travis for pulling off an awesome Earth Day trails event on April 26th - volunteers installed more signs along the trails, there's a new bike fix-it station under the pavilion, and a brand new trail map right at the main trailhead. Great work!
Enjoy the warmer weather and hope you get out on the trails this weekend!
