Hi Girls,

Since I've been blessed to be a part of Sally's Fabrics, in Mesa,
Arizona, I thought it would be fun to gather some ideas on how I/we
can get our youth, or even our young moms, wanting to learn how to
sew. I'm concerned that with our economy being the way it is, there
may come a day where sewing will become a needful skill. In the
meantime, I think it's so much fun sewing for our homes, making items
for young kids/babies, or even developing some quilting skills.
Sewing can also be a great "at home" business for moms through ETSY.
What is everyone else's thoughts?

P.S. I'm going to be writing a blog on Sallys website called "Sally's
Rally" with a link for teens. Don't laugh at my non-blogging skills!
I'm reading Blogging for Dummies, so I guess it will be a work in
progress. But, don''t be suprised if I include some of your ideas on
my blog! I want to know what each of you think. Also, this is a
group that needs many members. I researched and there are no sewing
groups through Google in the valley. We are the first! So, I will do
the work - I just need participation if you are interested, and
forward any new member e-mails to me! I'd love it, even if they live
out of town.:)

Thanks,

Kelli Erickson

Hi Kelli,
Great Idea! I have been wanting to get back to sewing, I just can't seem to find time for anything I enjoy doing. I just need to make the time. I would love to get Ali involved as well. She enjoys sewing. I just need to do it.

Sonja,
Maybe we should have Kelli help us do a mother/daughter enrichment night where they sew a small project.

I found this site with tons of free tutorials when I started sewing. It was great because I found a lot projects that have no pattern involved or a simple pattern that you make yourself.

Kelli,
I have been thinking about what you said and I think that some teens might be interested in remodeling their wardrobe.  A friend from high school did this with some of her stuff and it turned out really great.   You should check it out!   http://www.one-little-minute.com/p/project-repurpose.html
Good luck with everything, I think it is a great idea!
Love, Breea
