I need to apologize for not sending this sooner - I really thought I had finished it before I left CR on Oct 14th and I just found it as a draft when I accessed my blog a few minutes ago...so sorry!  But, everything I said then still applies today, so read on...

It has been so long since I have posted on this blog that I was sure I had forgotten how to even do it!!  As much as I love the internet and being on my computer, it still scares the heck out of me!  Sometimes I just long for an IBM Selectric!  (For those of you who don't know, this was a really cool electric typewriter that came out in the late 50's, early 60's that would actually go back a space and erase a mistake!  AND, it had these really neat globe-like pieces that you could interchange to use different fonts...it was amazing!!!)

Anyway, I need to get back to the subject of Carlos...what a difference I saw in him when I went to visit him just a short time before I left Costa Rica!  His beautiful smile was back and you could see the peace of the Lord in his eyes again.  The Lord has given him such faith and he is happy about being able to study through a university  program, in preparation for a degree in theology!  He also has such a ministry there with other inmates who ask him questions about the amazing change in his life style.  Keep praying that he will keep the faith and continue to be a light in that dark place.  Where he is (called Reforma) is a low security prison, but wow, if that is low security, I would not want to even see a high security place, and Rocio says she would not even allow me to visit anyone in one of those prisons!  In some ways it is very lax; none of the prisoners wear uniforms.  Actually, most of them are dressed up in their "Sunday best" even if they don't have visitors.  When we first walked into the visiting area (which is an outside court area) I saw a table were some inmates were selling stuff  and some inmates were walking around selling things they had made.  And, there was this one table full of daggers and swords made out of wood and they sure looked sharp enough to do some bodily harm to someone!  What a shock...but only to me, not anyone else.

So, please continue to pray for Carlos, that he will stay strong spiritually. Also pray for his wife Olga who makes that trek to see him every Sunday. She gets up around 4am to be in line to see him at 6:30 then they start allowing people in at 8 until noon.  The Lord has provided her with a new job and now she is making the same money as before but working half the hours...she asked that you Praise God with her for this provision.  Pray also for her adult son (sorry, didn't get his name) who has problems with drugs. It was thru him that Olga and Carlos met as she had taken him to the church rehab center.  It looks like the program didn't work for him, though, because he is still struggling.  He and his girlfriend have a new baby and they all live with Olga.  Also pray for Carlos' son Brian who is now able to visit his dad and you can see how happy he is, even if this is not the best environment for a pre teen.  Pray also that Brian will not be influenced by Olga's older son as he could be a very negative influence on Brian.

Thanks again on behalf of Carlos for all your prayers.  He tell me continually to thank everyone.  Also, if you would like to help him with his education while he is incarcrated, just use the "Donate" button I have made available for you and I will make sure he gets your donation in Jesus' name.

Love and blessings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus!!
