I have an exciting story to share with you and it has to do with Malachi 3:8-12.  Many of you know these verses, it is about how God was talking to the Israelites about the importance of the tithe for the maintenance of the nation. Most of you probably don't struggle with this as much as I do, but just recently God has had to make it clear to me once again how important this is, that I be more consistent in this area.  I am currently reading "The Hole in our Gospel"  (a GREAT read, by the way!) and in chapter 18 the author talks about how we don't realize how rich we are (if you make more that $25k per year, you are richer than 90% of the world's population; if you make $50K, more than 99%!)  He goes on to say "We don't believe we are wealthy, so we don't see it as our responsibility to help the poor.  We are deceived."  Wow!

So, let me tell you my story.  I have to leave Costa Rica every 90 days because I am still(after 7 years!)here as a tourist. Last week I made a call to a friend who I had made plans with to go to Nicaragua but she couldn't go.  I checked flights on the internet but couldn't find anything reasonable.  Literally, as I was sitting at my computer, asking God what I should do, I got a phone call from a couple who I had met recently who wanted to invite me to hear a certain speaker that the three of enjoy, that they would to fly me to Indiana to go to the conference with them and how did the last week of March sound?? I had to leave by March 30th!!  Is God good, or what?? I was thinking this morning that what this trip is going to cost doesn't even compare to my measly tithe!  Then I felt God say to me, "Sally, I don't NEED your tithe, what I need is YOU, your complete obedience!"  Just obey me and I can and will bless you beyond what you can even imagine. TEST ME!! Case in point: a trip back home with some wonderful new friends and some who have been friends for years, given to me by the hand of God, through some dear servants of His that heard His voice and answered at the exact moment that I needed to hear from Him!  Read through those verses in Malachi, TEST HIM and I promise He will not disappoint you!

"I love the recklessness of faith.  First you leap, and then you grow wings." - -  William Sloane Coffin

Received according to my computer at 9:51 a.m.   Is this what you asked about in the other e-mail?

Thanks for sharing a fantastic answer to prayer!

I actually have heard the comparison about how rich we are.  I find it very humbling.  The next struggle is knowing where to give our money - I know so many wonderful people who need financial assistance.

Hey girlfriend!  Excellent!  Will you be here for a little while?  I'd love to see you if you get into Chicago?  Oh, and who (speaker) are you going to see?  The coffee has been so sweet!  Bob has been traveling and I was going to surprise him tomorrow a.m. - but he saw it in the freezer and was surprised!  Happily!  Lets chat soon . . . love you,  Jan

I will only make it as far as Indy on Monday 3-28 then on Wed we head for St. Louis for a conference with Dr. David Jeremiah - Tom and Linda are personal friends of his, so I will get to spend time with Dr. Jeremiah up close and personal!  I won't be able to make it to Chicago, though, which is the only bummer.  It's an 8 day trip but two of those days are travel days.

I am glad you (and Bob) are enjoying your coffee!  I actually found some that I like better - you will have to try some when you come. It's organic and can be bought at the central market in San Jose.  It is a cheaper than the Doka  brand also, I think, or comparable. I think it's about $7.50 per pound but am not sure because what I have was purchased for me.  Rocio loves it and I have called her a coffee snob for years but now I understand why she loves it so much!!

When do you leave for Bali?  Wish I could go with you.  I was once on my way to Bali for language school...long long ago in another lifetime...

You will be in my prayers.

Never hear of Dr. David Jeremiah?  So glad you get to go . . . the Lord is sweet, isn't He!!!  Have a wonderful time :)

You bet I'll try ANY coffee from CR :)  Looking forward to tasting when we come.  THANK YOU again!!

I leave for Bali on April 14th.  Long travel - takes 2 days to get there.  Will fly through Korea.  Bob is going to meet me in Bali - for five days of vacation!  Whoo hoooo!  We will also be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.  Can you believe it?  Thanks to God, we have the best relationship now - that we have ever had.  God is good!!  Well, back to work . . . am frantically trying to get curriculum done of the training in Bali.  It needs to be translated into Korean and Indonesian dialects.  Very busy these days.  Have fun girl . . . love you,  Janny
