[Sally's Jubilee] Testimony....

Well, today is a day for reminiscing as October is such a special month for me and has been for the past 51 years. Some of you I know have heard this story, so please forgive me for the repetition.  I want to share with you the experience I had when I came to Christ, in October of 1960 ( I don't remember the exact day in Oct.)  I had just graduated from high school 3 months before and I was living with a super dysfunctional family and not very happy.  I had been attending church with a boyfriend who was a believer but was in a backslidden state (which explains why he was dating me!!)  As 18 year olds, we were talking about getting married (!) and had decided to visit each others' church.  I was a nominal Catholic and he was attending a church called Fairhaven Bible Chapel.  When we agreed to visit each others' church, I volunteered to go to his first because I was afraid the walls of the Catholic church would come down on my head if if showed up for a mass!!  So, we went to his church and I enjoyed it sooo much that the following Sunday (and many Sundays after that) we went back. We actually never did attend a Catholic mass!  The end result was that I found Christ (the boyfriend when back to his old ways which meant we parted ways.)  I can remember receiving a letter from one of my best childhood friends who was upset with me because I was going to a church that was not Catholic.  I remember responding to her letter, telling her that it didn't matter what church you went to, that the only thing that mattered was  your personal relationship with Christ, whether or not you believed that He died for your sins.  As I proof read the letter (for those of you who don't understand this, in those days, we hand wrote letters and we would proofread them before sending the physical letter in the mail!!)  Anyway, as I proofread the letter, I realized, "Lord, this is true!  And I believe this, that Christ died for my sins and I can know that I am going to heaven!!"  That was the moment that I believed and I have never had a doubt that it was real.  Have I lived it perfectly for 51 years?  NOT!!  I have had my days/months (but, thank Him, not years!!)  when I have turned my back on God, but, He never turned His back on me!  Anyway, sometime during this month, thank God with me for His faithfulness to me through these FIFTY ONE YEARS!!!
