Rocio and I went to visit Carlos in prison a couple weeks ago, and wow! - what a difference!!  He has adjusted beautifully to his surroundings and is keeping busy with bible study, encouraging the other inmates (they see the change in him and often come to him with their spiritual questions)  He also is beginning a course through one of the universities in preparation for working on a degree in theology!  This has made him so happy as this is something he wanted to do for quite a while before he was incarcerated!  Even his appearance is brighter, has a smile and laughs a lot now, in place of the stress lines in his face and the tears.  He was so much more relaxed, although he still talked 100 miles a minute - it was evident that he doesn't get much quality conversation with those of like mind during the week!

Praise God with us for the job his wife Olga was able to find.  She was let go from the hotel where she worked due to lack of customers during the slow season.  But, she was able to find a new job working half the hours and making the same pay!  Please also pray for Carlos' son Bryan (I think he is 10) who is now able to visit his dad every Sunday which makes Bryan very happy.  An issue concerning Bryan is that Olga's adult son is living with her now (with his young wife who just had their baby boy about 3 months ago) and the son is struggling with drugs.  This is how Carlos and Olga met - when she took her son to the rehab center for the program.  Anyway, there is concern that Bryan will be negatively influenced by Olga's son.  For clarity, Bryan is Carlos' son from his first marriage, but Olga is really great with him when he comes to visit.  His mother has custody but she and Carlos have worked well together in raising him together.

Thanks so much for praying for Carlos - keep lifting him up during this difficult time in his life.  Praise God with us for the amazing change that has taken place in him, for his spiritual grown during these tough months!  We are praying for his release this coming May which would actually be an early release but looks feasible, especially in light of the change in the man from his previous incarcerations.
