Dear Donald,

ICT is preparing for an exciting event celebrating Tibetan culture in partnership with BuddhaFest and the local Capital Area Tibetan Association that works to spread and share the rich and unique culture of the Tibetan people. This event, Tibet Fest, will be held on Saturday, June 22nd in Arlington, Virginia from 3:30 – 7:30 pm.

Tibet Fest is a family-friendly event inspired by Tibetan Buddhist culture and the global concern for its survival inside Tibet. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience and explore the rich traditions of Tibet through an afternoon of activities for the whole family -- from making prayer flags, to sending His Holiness the Dalai Lama a birthday card. There will also be a Tibetan market providing the chance to take home a piece of Tibetan culture.

The afternoon will include guest speakers, music and fashion from Tibet. If you are going to be in the D.C. area come hang out with us and share in the dance, food, music and spirit of Tibetan culture. We hope you will also pass along information about this event to anyone you know who might be able to attend. See the box on the right for full details.

For those of you who are unable to join us, we will be sharing details after the event. This is just one way ICT is working to ensure the Tibetan culture survives into the future. For the latest updates on ICT’s work, please visit our website at www.savetibet.org.

Tibet Fest is being presented as part of BuddhaFest.

ICTABOUT BUDDHAFEST

BuddhaFest is a 4-day festival of films, talks, meditation and music being held June 20-23 at Artisphere, in the Rosslyn section of Arlington, VA. The festival is inspired by the Buddhist practices of mindfulness, meditation and compassion.

Speakers include Robert Thurman, Sharon Salzberg, Khen Rinpoche Lobzang Tsetan, who is the abbot of the Panchen Lama's monastery in exile in India, don Miguel Ruiz, Jr. and many others. The festival will feature six films, and five of the filmmakers will be present to introduce their films and take questions from the audience.

Saturday afternoon's featured film is DIGITAL DHARMA: ONE MAN'S MISSION TO SAVE A CULTURE. This is the epic story of E. Gene Smith's 50-year journey to rescue, preserve and share the riches of a 1,500-year-old seemingly lost Tibetan literary culture. Director Dafna Yachin and a representative of the Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center in New York City will take questions after the screening. View the trailer HERE »
