Hello all,
I loved the idea of an youth exchange about photography and I think it's perfectly doable.
Like everything, it really depends how you write the application and your aims and objectives are. It cannot just be "let's all gather together and take photos of everyone and everything", as I am pretty sure you all are aware of this.
After 5 minutes of thinking about this I remembered one activity that was very successful in my previous ONG in Portugal.
That activity consisted in a photo "contest" where the main purpose was to picture and frame different problems in local community: social problems, environmental, gender, age differences, and also normal beautiful pictures like landscape, sunset etc. In the end it was always made a local exhibition in the community so everyone can see.
We can adapt this where the participants try to picture and show local (in the place where the youth exchange is) as also to picture some problems in their own country and try to compare them. We can introduce here the normal topics of YiA: stereotypes, prejudices, social differences, inter cultural differences and learning, non-formal education etc.
I really think this idea about photography can go on and I am getting excited. What do you think? Let's have some brainstorming and ideas now. :D
