Two members of Saligao-Net woke me up this morning, and so I took my
camera along. See the results here (and you'll know who the
Saligao-Netters are):

Thank you Frederick, for agreeing to accompany Fr Nascimento Mascarenhas and me on our tour of Saligao yesterday and also for putting up the pics so quickly. I have been editing Fr Nascimento's essays for Saligao Serenade (www.saligaoserenade.com) for almost two years now, and it was great to actually see some of the places he's been writing about, as my previous visits to Goa have rarely included an extensive tour of the village, such as happened this time.

Since you have agreed to click a few more pics of the village and have granted us permission to use them on Saligao Serenade, it will help me embellish the site with a graphic dimension that will surely attract a wider audience.

We can all look forward to a better and brighter Saligao Serenade in the coming weeks!

Best,

Hi Rico,

Unfortunately, I could not open and see the photos due to this site being banned in Dubai by the local service provider.  I had informed you about this earlier.

Hi Salvador, I'm aware of Flickr.com being banned in parts of the Gulf.
Unfortunately I can't do much, since I've invested quite some time and
energies in building my collection on flickr.com itself, and have some
29,000+ photographs on that site. http://photosfromgoa.notlong.com

Thanks for the great photos Frederick.  Loved the chapel in Sonarbhatt.  Nice to see the seminary too.  What is the significance of the tree with the red flags and where about is it?  Look forward to seeing some more of Saligao.....

Best wishes.

Mina, Haven't you heard of Cristalinacho Vodd? That could be enough to
spark off a debate on Saligao-Net that lasts for a year of Sundays :-) FN

For more on Christuleacho vod, check out these essays on Saligao Serenade:

(I wonder now if the tree pictured in the essay above is in fact the correct one -- perhaps Fr Nascimento can confirm)

Frederick, of course I've heard of Cristalina, (you cannot be a Saligaonkar if you haven't heard of Cristalina !!!!..).  I thought that might be the tree in the photo, hence the question.  I've never see the tree at close range.  As a child I was always terrified if we had to travel to or from Betim late in the evening. Thanks for the confirmation Fr. Nascimento.

I wonder how many people believe in this now... they say Goa had more
"ghosts" when the public lighting wasn't upto much (which made it easier
to imagine all kinds of spooky things, I guess). FN

Hi Albert,

Any mail-server will suspend a subscriber if his address bounces mail.
Was your address bouncing mail recently?

I'll forward this to the Goanet-Admin team, and I think it would be
better if you raised the issue there, instead of on an unrelated
Saligao-Net.

As far as I know, it must be some glitch with your mail account. Please
try subscribing and posting from some other account. Gmail is better,
though it won't return posts sent to a list from your comp ... FN

Dear Val,
I hope you are well and back in Mumbai.
I do not know if you have placed any postings on saligaoserenade. We have given an assurence to readers that there would be weekly posting on the blog and  I am a little concerned as to what has happened to you. We had Easter, then release of my book but no  postings on the blog.
Secondly  I cannot understand why you want to repeat the former postings on saligaonet like that of sacrula, because you have the photograph of Sacro or sacrula now ?
There had been many new postings sent to you much earlier. May be you are not happy with them and even with the recent ones. There is no e-mail from you to mebut there was one for Frederick Noronha to ask about photographs on Saligao. Whether you sent this e-mail to him from Goa or Mumbai, I really do not know or that you are sick that too I do not know. .I know that you are spending money from your pocket for the blog. Editing it and using lot of your time for the blog.  You also have lo of ideas to improve the blog. But apart from that you ould have interviewed frederick himself regarding our blog.I suppose you have left that to me. I reached saligao with you after a very long time. Saligao is a small village and I am physically not there, so I cannot interview people and hear their views. So from here I am unable to do much. But I did something. I really do not know what  other articles are there with you and which can be placed on the blog. Apart from from children's articles which we have not got permission and which cannot be placed on the blog I had been researching and writing about Saligao Sporting Club, Adarsh Youth Club, Saligao United Club all from Saligao and these were sent to you when I was in santo Estevam. There is no word of them on the blog and all of them having games a pleanty and tournaments too, in Saligao till date and no word on the blog. What is happening ? I am concerned and I am closing here to hear your views about all this. Bye for now. Much prayers, fr. nascimento mascarenhas.
