Awesome Updates for Developers – Summer’14:

 

 

·      Attach Larger Files, Up to 25 MB, to Objects (Existing limit 5 MB)

·    Receive Incoming Emails of up to 25 MB (Existing limit 10 MB)

·    Improvements to Setup Search (Beta) – Search Setup menu items, custom fields, custom objects, custom profiles, permission sets, public groups, roles, and users from the sidebar in Setup.

·    Increased Maximum Length for Long Text and Rich Text Fields - from 32,768 characters (32 KB) to 131,072 characters (128 KB)

·      Increased Maximum Number of Relationship Fields - from 25 fields to 40 fields

·    Increased Maximum Number of External ID Fields - from 3 fields per object to 7 fields per object

·    Speed Up Queries with the Query Plan Tool in developer console – Cardinality support added

·    Describe Limits Removed. Limits for all Apex describe calls have been removed for all API versions. For example, describeSObjects can now describe more than 100 sObjects.

·      Create Price Book Entries in Apex Tests

·    Submit More Batch Jobs with Apex Flex Queue (Pilot)

·    Run Future Methods with Higher Limits (Pilot). For example, @future(limits='2xHeap')

One of the following limits can be doubled or tripled for each future method:

o  Heap size

o  CPU timeout

o  Number of SOQL queries

o  Number of DML statements issued

o  Number of records that were processed as a result of DML operations, Approval.process, or Database.emptyRecycleBin
