ONE WEEK LEFT TO REGISTER FOR CFT!
Oh man oh man oh man oh man have we been busy! The rush of registrations has begun and our numbers grow! You wanna see an excited corgi? Right here, baby! This beautiful rainy weather has got me in the mood for camping, and as August 1st draws closer I'm looking forward more and more to that lovely summer heat. Our construction crew's getting started on building our extra showers and more quonset huts for everyone, the Friends of Campfire Tails Charter is in the process of being prettied up for everyone to see last year's contributors, the menu's been plotted out and the conbook has begun to come together! Not to mention the Happenings being fleshed out; there's definitely some new treats in store! Let's break things down:
We're rearranging the camps and doing away with the Sandbox. When you arrive onsite, this year there'll be a grand total of 16 quonset huts. Camp will be split apart into four areas, arranged from noisiest/partiest to quietest, with a good spread of Hosts to go around (2 per camp this year!) to see that everyone has a fun, safe time. Our number of solar showers will be 12. The platform-designed ones will have a new crown pulley system to make it easier to hang shower bags from and hang them higher than before. Of course if showers in the great outdoors aren't your thing, there's also the creek, which is absolutely wonderful for bathing on a hot day.
For those that are pumped for the food (I know I am :9) we have our lineup plotted out. For dinner, expect to find handmade bratwurst with german potato salad, Chicken Satay with Lime Rice, Grilled Pork Chops with Apple Polenta and of course my yucatan roast pork with hummus and handmade flatbread! Lunches will consist of Mac and Cheese, Pulled Pork Sandwiches and Avocado Chicken. Breakfasts will consist of Oatmeal with fruit, buckwheat pancakes, Chorizo and eggs and free-for-all breakfast burritos on the last day. Desserts will be cookies and sweet cream, churros, ice cream and our sunday cake social!
As for Happenings, it's all coming together nicely. I've plotted out the trophies with Okami for our people's choice awards. Of course, when I put in the sculpey and models to bake, I didn't set the temp right and the arms on one of the figurines drooped a bit. So the rabbit trophy for the best dancer is now a 'COME AT ME BRO' trophy! I've put in the order for the equipment to set up a low-powered FCC compliant FM radio station at camp, so CFT Radio is go! Bring your boomboxes, walkmen, whatever you have that can tune in and I'll be having an open mic for people to DJ, hold discussions, make camp announcements and, should people gather enough boomboxes in one area, host some decentralized dance parties! If you have favorite mixes on cd, flash drive or mp3 player, bring it! Riley's busting his butt for the awkward dance party and hopes to provide all of you with a wonderfully uncomfortable time. Of course there'll be the spread mentioned last update, and it looks like it's all coming together as planned. I'm most excited. :)
That all said, we still need help! We need someone to manage camp communications, kitchen volunteers, camp volunteers and volunteers to haul non-perishable food from eugene to the campsite! If you know anyone with a truck, let me know. :)
So to wrap it all up, registration ends at 12:00am next Sunday! We have no onsite registration, we are and always will be an 18+ event only and this event will always always ALWAYS be 100% about our community and the strengthening of our respective groups. Though we've moved on to different lives as life itself moves on, we will always have our meets, cons, and of course, CFT to bring us all together and reinforce and rekindle our friendships. Peace, furries. I love each and every one of you, and look forward to seeing all of you at camp. :)
