Hey everyone,
I'm here to tell you all about Portland's new Furry convention, Furlandia! Running from Friday
through Sunday, May 10-12. Read on for a huge information dump that can tell you most that you
want to know!
What? Portland is getting a Furry convention...?
PRESENTING FURLANDIA!
The convention is being headed by Portland's own Atso with assistance from a partner interested in
helping jump start a furry convention here in Portland. After several meetings, we're making good
progress. I can assure everyone that this is a convention for Furries by Furries, with all the
staples of your normal Furry convention. Planning is being orchestrated by several members of the
local scene, to bring you the most entertainment we can. With your patronage it will only get
better.
Our theme this year is simple, it's Portland! And all the weirdness and oddity that comes with our
beautiful little city.
The hotel and convention space is perfect for what we need in our first year, and has a restaurant
and bar on premises. It's everything you can expect with a hotel.
Furlandia runs May 10-12, located downtown at Portland State University's "University Place Hotel &
Conference Center". Check the site for exact details like address and links for hotel booking.
Excuse the sparseness of the site, it is being updated with a large collection of information soon.
A list of staff will also be available soon.
Coming from out of town? The convention is easy to reach via public transportation from the airport,
Amtrak, and Greyhound station. Expect more detailed information.
If you have any questions about Furlandia, you can check out the website or send an email to our
Co-Chairs:
EVENTS!
There are several exciting events planned during the convention, an array of day events and panels
to choose from, a gelato social, our Dealers Den, table top and video gaming room, karaoke, and
more!
Feeling creative? Then check out the Creation Station, which will provide space for you to create,
draw, and craft to your heart's content right along with others.
There will be a main event every night including our prime Saturday Night dance which, as our
Headline Act writes, "...promises to be long, loud, and sweaty."
Our Headlining DJ this year is Pandemonium Jones, a "semi-professional" from California with several
years in the game. In 2005 as part of the double act Caps & Jones, he reached Spin Magazine's top 40
albums of the year list. Make no mistake, this Furry knows how to play to a party.
Also confirmed to play is Portland's very own Swift. Along with both of them are several other
artists in the works.
GUESTS OF HONOR
We are pleased to announce two very special Guests of Honor this year! Information including links
and biographical information will be placed on the site soon.
First we welcome Tojo The Thief as our Artist Guest of Honor. Her work is fantastic and
speaks for itself. Check her out at:
Second, and just as impressive, Soki will be our Fursuit Maker Guest of Honor. Hopefully we will all
get to see his top notch work in action around the convention. Check him out at:
CHARITY
We've selected our charity this year and are pleased to announce the Portland Animal Welfare Team,
also known as PAW Team. They specialize in providing assistance to Furries of the four-legged
variety and their owners stricken by poverty, to make sure that the fuzzy critters have everything
they need to stay healthy when times are rough. PAW Team will be benefiting from Furlandia and the
generosity of our always giving community. Check them out at:
YOU MAY PREREGISTER!
Seriously, it's only $30 for the weekend if your preregister. The price raises to $35 at the
convention. Day passes will be available at the convention as well. Want to be a sponsor and get
cool swag? We are working out those options and promise to have info as well as the option up soon.
Already purchase a membership and want to upgrade? You will be able to do that too with an email to
our Co-Chairs.
Under 18 and want to attend? We welcome you! Be sure to read the policy for minors listed on the
site.
As a first year convention, funding is always a concern, every preregister helps us out, and your
attendance helps ensure a next year.
WANT TO SELL AT FURLANDIA?
We have two options for you, a full table and half table. The price of both options includes your
registration, and allows for a discounted registration rate for a limited number of assistants. To
see what other benefits come with a dealer registration, and to apply, please visit:

Fundraising Events
There are multiple fundraising events in the works between now and May 10th, including the already
scheduled Furry/Fursuit and Cosplay Bowling hosted by PDXFurs in Portland March 16th. You can help
by attending and supporting these events, profit going towards upfront costs of the convention. Keep an
eye out for future announcements.
The Bottom Line
