While it's an incredible material from a protection standpoint, Mavic opted to use something lighter and more breathable under the arms and at the back, namely its Ride Wick Warm fabric. Like the name implies, this is the winter-weight version of Ride Wick, which is renowned for its ability to transport moisture away from the skin, and to the surface of the jacket where it can evaporate, rather than wetting your jacket out. This combination of materials yields the ideal blend of protection and comfort that you need from a great winter riding jacket.
The Cyclone jacket is noteworthy for more than just its use of fabrics. It's built on Mavic's Pro fit, which ensures that it stays right next to your body, avoiding flapping, or any openings that could turn into air scoops when you get rolling. Naturally, Pro fit is tailored to the body types of fit cyclists, which is another way of saying that it's decidedly slim. For reference, Pro fit features a 4cm smaller chest t han Mavic's standard fit, so if you're typically between sizes in Mavic clothing, you'll want to size up. The chest gets an asymmetric zipper that directs the top to the side of your neck, where it's less prone to irritating you while you ride. The low-profile cuffs sit flush against your wrists, without catching the wind. Storage comes courtesy of a zippered rear pocket with three inner mesh pockets.
