Great Speaker!

I've read reviews elsewhere that were not too kind to this JBL speaker. For one thing, most of the poor reviews were simply because people couldn't dock their iPhone on the speaker without taking off their iPhone case. For someone who wants to know how the speaker actually SOUNDS, I don't care if you have to take off your iPhone cases. And I don't think people should give a GREAT speaker a one-star review simply because, like most other docks out there, you can't use it with a case on your phone!
Besides, if you want to dock your phone, there are plenty of speakers out there. I was really interested in this speaker as a Bluetooth speaker. Many times different family members want to share a song or a Youtube video, and we're stuck listening to the audio through the tiny speakers on our iPhones, Macbooks, and iPads (Yes, we're a Mac family). WOW! this speaker did not disappoint! I've had it just a few weeks, and I cannot believe how much use I've gotten from this little gem. And while Bluetooth was the type of speaker I was looking for, sound was the most important feature. Most speakers this size cause you to compromise on sound. They are usually tinny, all mid-range, or lack bass and/or clarity. The dynamic range and stereo separation on this speaker are great! I listened to many Bluetooth speakers, and this one really surprised me. I was about to purchase a Bose Bluetooth speaker, when I happened upon this one in a store, and was amazed at the sound. I had already decided to put down $400 on the Bose speaker, so it wasn't about the money.
A reviewer in a computer magazine mentioned that the sound quality diminishes when using Bluetooth compared to when it's docked. HUH? Because I read that review, that was the one thing I was concerned about. I tested it myself, and can tell absolutely no difference between the dock and the Bluetooth. Both sound exactly the same.
The one con about this speaker as opposed to many in this category, is that this is not considered portable because it's not rechargeable, and will not run on batteries. Since I mainly wanted it to sit in my living room and just be available whenever we had something to share, it's perfect! Just leave it plugged in, and you don't even have to turn it on to begin playing something, it's all automatic. When playing through my Macbook for 6 hours, it dropped connection twice, but that's been the only glitch since I've had it.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a stationary speaker that you can throw music or sound to with the click of a mouse. To a music junkie, this is a great indulgence.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my teenager. She loves it. Easy to use and set up. Sound quality very good. And, importantly to her, it is loud.

Powerful and Perfect

This was a gift to my father. He is a music fanatic, and I knew it would make him so happy to have something small and powerful that he could carry around everywhere he went! Its easy to connect, and the sound is simply incredible! Totally worth it :) and a great gift idea for music lovers
