AMBER Business Coaching and Technical Assistance
(All Minority Businesses Excelling in Real-Time)
The Montgomery County Black Collective, in partnership with the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce and Montgomery County Government is seeking applicants for a cohort for a technical assistance and individualized business coaching program. The AMBER program is expected to launch in late 2022 and will run through June 2023.
AMBER focuses on the essential management areas you need based on your unique business assessment. The program is designed to provide technical assistance expertise and individualized coaching necessary for small businesses to scale their operation. Through weekly management strategies and group mindfulness sessions each month, your business will learn the tactics and best practices necessary to achieve sustainable growth. AMBER will provide the support system businesses need through individualized and monthly meetings.
The cohort is open to for-profit businesses that operate in Montgomery County, MD. Applicants not selected for the cohort or non-profit businesses will be considered for the next cohort scheduled for spring 2023. County MicroLoans for Small Businesses
Be Next Campaign Launched by
Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation
MCEDC is launching a campaign both to retain existing county businesses and attract new ones. The “Be Next” campaign will target the small, minority-owned and women-owned business communities, and businesses in the life sciences, technology, real estate, hospitality, and nonprofit industries. It is designed to highlight the types of businesses that have been successful in the county via billboards, radio, podcasts, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google, video ads, and trade publications. Coalition to Back Black Businesses
The Coalition has formed an initiative to support Black small business owners and the
communities they serve as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and chart a
path forward. Through the Coalition, American Express, Cummins Inc., Optimum,Shopify, Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., the National Black Chamber of Commerce , Walker’s Legacy, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will work together to provide over $14 million in grants, training, and resources to empower Black-owned small businesses in distressed communities that have long been struggling with
