(Full disclosure-- I tried ordering some koji spores from organic-cultures.com and it didn't arrive in a reasonable time so I cancelled the order. It would be great to hear of success ordering from this source).

I tried koji spores from Modernist Pantry. It was very weak stuff. Have always had good luck with the stuff from Gem Cultures. Last year I ordered from this source in Japan: http://www.higuchi-m.co.jp/english/index.html
They have an incredible selection of strains and are very friendly. Ordering can be complicated and you have to buy a lot to make it worth it, so I would only recommend them if you've already brewed a few batches already and want to try different strains of koji. Shipping got held up in Japan because of COVID (it took a month to arrive) but I think things should be moving smoother now. Regardless of the hold up, the koji performed quite well!
