===================================

Dear friends in the greater Danbury area,

Today has never felt so difficult to cope with, and tomorrow appears unpredictable. While all of us are focused on staying healthy and safe with our families and loved ones, we hope everyone remains in good spirits, through some of the most challenging times we will face in our lives.

We’re all watching the news constantly, reading articles in real-time, and hearing stories around us, about the number of people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. These are extraordinary, unprecedented times, and unfortunately, none of us knows what the future holds.

While there is so much uncertainty ahead of us, we do know one thing: all of us need to adapt quickly to the changing reality. Now, more than ever before, our community needs us. And we need you.

We have so many noble, dedicated and empathetic professionals among us, working daily to ensure that our quarantines can be as safe and comfortable as possible. Together, we are surrounded by committed healthcare heroes at Danbury Hospital, now a part of Nuvance Health – a place that has changed all of our lives in one way or another. Whether saving lives, treating illnesses, bringing home a new member of the family, or offering internships to our children, Danbury Hospital has been a pillar of our community’s health. The torch has now been passed to us, to support them in their time of dire need.

As we all have read, critical supplies such as hand sanitizers, face masks, and protective equipment are in extremely short supply at hospitals worldwide. Through the kindness of one of our own, we now have the ability to procure and donate these much-needed supplies directly to Danbury Hospital. Please visit the following GoFundMe link below to learn more and donate, so that our healthcare professionals can continue to save precious lives.

We are suggesting a donation of $50 or more. For example, every $100 donation can buy 50 face masks, 1 gallon (about 4 liters) of hand sanitizer, and 4 gallons (15 liters) of bleach –  used as a general-purpose, non-personal disinfectant.

Please spread the word to your family and friends to help a health system that has always stood by us. In challenging times like these, we are all reminded of how interconnected we are. Greater Danbury is a resilient community, strengthened by our relationships with one another. Together, we can make a difference, so let’s do it!

Stay safe and in good health,
The Indian Community in the Greater Danbury Area
