Dear Faithful of St Seraphim Cathedral,

Last week many children from our parish enjoyed a wonderful week at All Saints Summer Camp in Point, TX. The children grew in their faith, were supervised well by the counselors and staff, they enjoyed mild weather, and returned home safely.

At the same time, very early Friday morning in the Kerrville region of Texas, as almost all our parishioners now know, terrible flash floods swept through the region causing the deaths of more than 100 people, including about 30 girls at one summer camp.

We encourage our parishioners to offer their condolences to the affected families, some of whom live not far from St Seraphim Cathedral.

We will serve a common memorial Pannikhida on Wednesday evening before Vespers, beginning at 6:00 PM.

In addition, while our St Seraphim Cathedral is not organized to assist in disaster relief, this is one of the ministries that International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) performs, both supplying humanitarian aid to the affected families and region, as well as sending teams of trained professionals called “Frontliners” to help with on the ground outreach and ministry. You are welcome to send contributions directly to IOCC or to send them through St Seraphim Cathedral earmarked July Flood Relief.

In Christ,

Bp Gerasim
