Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We are blessed with so many new people at St Seraphim Cathedral!  As most of you know, I enjoy collecting and sharing Christmas music, instead of sending Christmas cards.

In case you were not here to receive this a few years ago, here is a link to my collection of music on the theme of Thanksgiving.  The rich historical tapestry of the definitively American Feast of Thanksgiving emphasizes the troubled times, perhaps like the present, when it is especially compelling to ask Our Divine Creator for urgently needed help.  This immediacy in turn compels each of us to offer profound thanks for all of God's innumerable blessings upon our lives, even (especially!) during these difficult times.

As befits the day, the main theme of this collection is giving thanks, glory, and praise to God, in a context of seasonal Americana.

It is my hope that this music not only will enrich your family gathering on this national holiday, but also will in some small way inspire us all to reach a bit deeper to truly give thanks to God amidst our unique challenges.

In Christ,
Protodeacon Brendan

Christmas Favorites 2013: The Christmas Story

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As most of you know, I enjoy collecting and sharing Christmas music. This year's collection follows the sequence of events in the Nativity story, in song and music.

A Byzantine Alleluia adorns the beginning of each section, calling to mind the illuminations at the start of each new chapter of a medieval manuscript.  Each is unique, but connected with the others.

Christ is Born!  Give Glory!

In Christ,
Protodeacon Brendan
