Love in Christ,
PDn Brendan
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As many of you know, I enjoy collecting and sharing music. Several years ago I put together this collection for Great Lent, the time of fasting, reflection, and preparation for the Great Feast. Beyond any particulars of form or praxis, the essence of this collection is a reflection on the journey of the soul toward God.
The introductory piece is a traditional English folk carol on the Parable of the rich man and Lazarus, from the Gospel of Luke. The remaining pieces are compositions for services or private devotion, with the exception of Arvo Pärt's The Woman with the Alabaster Box, on a text from the Gospel of Matthew.
The overall flow of the collection is inspired by the Parable of the Prodigal Son, progressing from longing and exile, through the journey of repentance, to returning home to his father’s house. This thematic progression may not be apparent without referring to the attached texts (in the info folder), especially for the Latin or polyphonic pieces.
In any case, I hope that this collection may provide you some musical inspiration.
Protodeacon Brendan

Another Collection: the Crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As most of you know, I enjoy collecting and sharing music. The theme of this collection is the Crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is my hope that it may furnish some inspiration for reflection, as you prepare for the Great Feast of Our Lord’s Resurrection.
In Christ,
Protodeacon Brendan
