If you are anything like me, the regimental chapel and other regimental connections are something of a black hole in your knowledge.
The opening of the new Fusilier Museum in Jury Street has stimulated a revival in these connections, and they are keen to promote St Mary's as a place for their visitors to come to as well. They attract a lot of visitors, many of whom are looking for information about their ancestors, and they have a large following on social media. A Facebook post about the regimental chapel attracted a high level of interest, both on the museum's page and ours.
It also fits well with the work that we are doing to strengthen our links with other attractions in the town: you may have noticed that supporters for our HISTORY 900 events include Visit Warwick (i.e. the tourist information centre), BuyIn2Warwick (Chamber of Trade), and the Warwick Arms Hotel.
In short, this is a good opportunity to broaden the appeal of St Mary's to potential visitors, but it does mean that we should get to know a bit more about the chapel and the background to it.
The museum has helpfully provided me with some information which I'll sort out and make available to you. They have also offered us a tour of the museum, which we ought to take up. Let me know if you want to come, and I'll make the arrangements.
