Children should cultivate patriotism. Love of one’s country is as important as love of God. As truthfulness is at the root of an individual’s progress, for social good morality is important. Our well being is closely related to the welfare of our country. Our country’s honour is our honour. You should not live like a drop of oil in water and feel that the country should fend for itself. If you are treacherous to the country, it is like being treacherous to your mother. The motherland is equal to very heaven. If you cannot serve your motherland, what service can you do to the world? India is going to pieces only because we do not have social consciousness. When we live in unity, freedom will blossom. One caste, one community and one culture do not make a nation. This is the significance of the concept ‘unity in diversity’. Jewels are many, but gold is one; stars are many, but sky is one; nations are many, but earth is one. We must develop a sense of unity in this manner.
