This is a guide to filter mails automatically on g-mail so that you can live with peace of mind Skipping those unimportant emails or even the forward mails (from me )!
Well I took the initiative as few of my friends complained about having a lot of mails junked from me to their inbox, I replied saying there are friends of mine and whom i care about, it is to those people my mails are intend to.
As my mailing list does contain IDs of not a small number so removing one or two specific contacts isn't an easy task for me! Hence i decided to write down this tutorial to those people who haven't figured out the filtering options,
This does apply to all email servers but since the majority of my friends are on G mail, I would like to put it down that way...
This is the new g-mail look...
on the top right of the email is the small triangular drop down icon, on clicking it you can see a "filter messages like these" option, click it...
it opens the search box as shown, Click "create filter with this search" option...
now the window opens asking what you wish to do with mails searched using this filter...
you can mark the option you wish, but my suggestion would be to "mark as read" so in case you find extra time, you could always go through those unimportant mails skipped... Deleting it is not suggested as it is known that the g-mail's trash folder DOESN'T HOLD ALL THE DELETED DATA
and keeps removing the junk in it from time to time...
After marking what needs to be done, If needed to filter previously read messages too, Tick mark on "also apply filer to the matching conversations"
and click "create filter"...
and walla! you are free from those unwanted mails! I have seen some of my friends inboxes with so much of THOUSANDS OF MAILS notifying every single move
from facebook, orkut or youtube, Ttry creating a filter to each one of these and perhaps your inbox could be a better place ;-)
Its a digital life now, and emails are gathering their importance too, scrolling through the mail list to find some useful mail can be too painful...
Goodluck, feel free to contact me for any kind of tech support,
