Francis and Premela Samuel to celebrate 60 years of marriage

Hi there,

Francis and Premela Samuel will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on September 14 in Bangalore (see the trailing note from Shalu (their younger daughter).Shalu has aksed me to 'spread the news' among Saikorians and has indicated in the note what is currently under study by way of celebration.

 

Both elder Samuels have less than perfect health. Francis recently had a minor heart attack (from which he seems to have made a good recovery) and Premela has difficulty walking and needs permanent home care. For this reason, I suspect the celebration plans will remain fluid until shortly before Swptember 14. As you can see from Shalu's note, she believes a major Saikorian (festive) presence would contribute greatly to a positive celebration. I'm therefore asking you to spread the news and invitation and consider what an appropriate Saikorian souvenir for the occasion would be.

 

Health permitting, I'm also considering a suprise visit with a possible trip to Hyderabad either before or after - hopefully, to see Hari's new apartment as well as touch base with the Hyderabad Saikorian chapter and visit Krushi. I've also suggested Hagen, Niluka and Amaya accompany me -  but this will most likely be dependent on school holidays, at present unconfirmed for the 2019-2020 term. Gabriele's participation is currently 'TBD' - she fears for her liver (!) and is not keen to leave the dogs even for a week. I'll keep you posted as thoughts and plans crystallize.

Thank you so much for remembering my parents 60th wedding anniversary. You and Gabby aunty are always welcome to our house. Mom and dad will be elated.

 

We are planning to celebrate their 60th wedding Anniversary on September 14th (Saturday) at around 11 AM followed by lunch. Kindly let all the Saikorians and Sainik School boys know, and please ask them to attend.  I do not know them personally, so I am asking. 

 

We have not decided on the Venue yet. If either of them are unwell at that time, I will have an open house for them at our residence from 4 pm to 9 pm on that day.

As there's an outside chance that I could also be in Bangalore at that time, I would appreciate your keeping me in the loop as regards any special celebrations planned. Don't, though, mention it to your parents. If it happens, it should be a surprise.

 

Meanwhile,  I hope both patients are making progress. Your dad sounded quite strong -  and quite his usual self - when I spoke to him on the phone.
