In these two clips, our Swami
teaches about the Gayatri Mantra and it's importance:
"Gayatri is the embodiment of all forms of Godhead - Sarva Devatha Swaroopman. Gayatri does not belong to any caste, to any sect or to any religion as such. It is universal in it's scope".
(Sai Baba)
"Never give up the Gayatri; you may give up or ignore any other mantra but you should recite the Gayatri at least a few times a day".
(Sai Baba)
We are chanting unconditionally, asking of nothing for ourselves, either as individuals or as a people. We are simply loving God for the sake of loving Him alone. - Surrender to Him completely! The only thing we focus on is that He, at His will, considers caring for His own physical forms, just as He so unconditionally always care for ours. When we Surrender to God, there is no need to ask for anything. So let's progress and enter this ideal state Surrender and Obedience...
"...since there is no fruit or object more valuable than God or more worthwhile than God, the Vedas advise us to love God, with no touch of desire in our minds. Love, since you must love for love’s sake; Love God, since whatever He can give is less than He Himself. Love Him alone, with no other wish or demand".
(Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Vahini)
The Gayatri Mantra is simply asking God to make each one of us Wise. Wisdom means we become good. If we all are good individuals; all other problems including world peace are resolved automatically and there is nothing left to ask for. - If all subjects are good: Society and all of creation is good! Change on the inside brings change on the out. Trying to change the outer world will not last, as if individuals themselves do not change, how long can external changes last for? Focus on asking God for Wisdom to obey his instruction. He says chant the Gayatri Mantra as a priority for a reason: Each subject should be wise, so each subject becomes good, so all reflects God. Then we all have longitudinal peace and love.
The Gayatri Mantra:
"Om Bhur Bhuvah Suvah Thath Savithur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayath"
The Gayatri Mantra's meaning:
"We meditate on God's glory, who has created the universe, who is fit to be worshipped, who is the embodiment of knowledge and light, the remover of all sins and ignorance. May He enlighten our intellects."
