All India Mahila Convention Day 1-Evening

Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 09 2016

Women are the repositories of character and virtue. Proving this point, portraying the inestimable potency and power of women, students from the Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Dharmakshetra and Aksa Village, Mumbai presented a Musical Dance Drama entitled "Nari Ek Shakthi" this evening on the second session of the ongoing National Mahila Convention in Prasanthni Nilayam. The presentation that was originally conceived over two decades ago, in 1996, had a long wait until the D-Day dawned today here, in Prasanthi Nilayam.

The Dance Drama in beautiful skits depicted the women as Crown Jewel of His Creation, presenting stories as often narrated by Bhagawan in His Divine discourses. Stories included that of Gopikas unstinting devotion to Lord Krishna, the illustrious story of Savitri, who with her power of chastity could win her dead husband back from the hands of Yama Dharma Raja, story of Putlibai, illustrious mother of Gandhiji, who with her strict parenting adhering to Truth and Righteousness could present a great son to Mother India, story of Easwar Chandra Vidya Sagar whose life was moulded by the character of his mother, etc.

It was the story of transformation of a modern-day heart that discounted the virtuous presence of his better half at home.

A song of glory to Mother Eswaramma next was followed by a final skit, on the illustrious fight shown by a little North East girl, who braved the British Army, holding aloft the Indian Flag, dedicating and sacrificing her life selflessly for Mother India.

A final song "Vande Sai Maa.." marked the culmination of the colorful evening presentation.

Earlier, the session commenced at 1700 hrs with a speech in Hindi that was followed by a felicitation ceremony.
