Hi there all,

I haven't yet had a chance to drop into Hackspace but I intend to do so just as soon as I can.

I'm writing to ask if anyone can tell me how easy it is to come by Arduino boards in the Saigon area? The reason I'm asking is that I'm currently in the U.S. and wondering if I should take this opportunity to pick up Arduino's, in case they're hard to come by in Vietnam.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

I have been here for a year and I have yet to find any Arduino micro
controllers around.
The closest one would get is from Singapore. Yes, please pick up as
many Arduinos as possible from the U.S.
I would also recommend you getting more precise stuff such as Multi-
Touch LCD Panel (Display from Arduino) or Bluesmirf (Bluetooth
communication).
You can get other dispensable stuff like breadboard, leds, resistors
and basic sensor at Nhat Tao market.
If you are still in the U.S and do not mind getting some stuff for me,
give me a buzz. I'll be really grateful and pay you of course.

Hi,
I'm with Jigsaw Renaissance in Seattle. I wonder why there aren't any Arduino micro controllers in Saigon? Let me know if you want me to send them to you. Thanks.

Hi Ondris and Budi,

Thanks for the info, Ondris, and thanks for the offer, Budi.  Unfortunately, Ondris, I got back from the States last week, otherwise I would've been happy to pick up some stuff for you.

I did pick up 2 Arduino Uno boards for myself, along with 2 Arduino Pro minis.

Ondris, I recently went through some of the old Hackspace emails and noticed that Angie asked a question a few months ago about Arduinos.  You might want to ask her whether she ever located any in Saigon.  Also, I don't know what kind of resources are available at Hackspace Saigon, but, given the open source nature of Arduino, maybe someone (us?) should look into fabricating some right here.  Might be a good funding source for Hackspace.

Cheers,
David R.

There is a place in Hong Kong that has pretty good quality clones:

http://arduino.hk/

They'll ship to Vietnam
