The two-day Ashadi Ekadashi festivity by the twin States of Maharashtra and Goa concluded this evening marked by a soul-stirring Hindustani concert by renowned Pandita Padmaja Talwalkar from Pune.
Singing in her simplistic fashion, from a heart full of devotion, Ms Padmaja kept the audience spellbound for over 50 minutes with her precisely perfect rendition. The accomplished artist started off with a "Bhajana Vin Sarey Din Gele..." and flowed on to sing "Guru Bin Kaun Batave... Baat" followed by "Natha Ghari Nache Maza Sakha Panduraga..." to conclude with an infectious 'Jai Jai Rama Krishna Hari', a rhyme ever synonymous with Ashadi Ekadashi.
Ms Padma was accompanied by Ms Yaswasree Sarpotdar on vocal support, Sarvasree Ravindra Yadgar on Tabla, Vyasmurthi Katti on Harmonium, Govinda Bellari on Pakhwaj.
Earlier, the session started with a burst of poetic rendition by Smt Sangeeta Joshi from Pune, a gushing feeling that emerged out of pure inspiration after watching the most exciting Violin concert in the morning by Pt Milind Raikar and Team. The rendition was titled "Violin" and was rendered in Hindi. This was followed by a most mellifluous Ashadi Theme Song by accomplished singer Raviraj Nasrey who sang "Ashadi Ashadi Ashadi Aayi Hey...".
Bhajans continued and the session ended with Mangala Arathi at 1820 hrs.

Don't run after God, instead make Him a permanent Resident in your heart. This line of wisdom stands logically correct in terms of winning The Ultimate Goal of salvation. The land that is often proclaimed as the 'Land Of The Saints', Maharashtra, is superlatively rich with such towering personalities, who with their unique mode of devotion have won the Heart Of The Supreme Divine. One such name is that of Sant Savata Mali who lived during the early 12th century.
the auspicious occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi, Balvikas children from Yeotmal District of Maharashtra offered a Dance Ballet on the illustrious life of Sant Savata Mali.
The presentation ensued from an interesting discussion between two holy rivers, Chitravathi and Chandrabhaga, as Chandrabhaga was waiting for someone holy, who turned out to be Sant Savata Mali. To a curious Chitravathi, Chandrabhaga narrated the illustrious story and thus the story-line.
The great devotee, despite being geographically so close from Pandharpur, refrained from going to Pandharpur, reason being recession in crops in the area. Instead, he professed that his field and everything belongs to his Lord Vittala, constantly engaged in remembering his Lord.
Showcasing the story, many interesting scenes from the life of Savata Mali was shown, that included, how, finally Savata Mali won the Heart Of his Lord, Who appeared in person seeking 'asylum' in his pure heart.
It turned out to be a devotional Maratha evening, with the Name Of Vittala reverberating in the Prasanthi air incessantly.
Bhajans continued and the session came to a conclusion at 1615 hrs with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan.

Prasanthi turned gripped in Maratha festive fervour this morning as twin Indian States of Maharashtra and Goa celebrated Holy Ashadi Ekadashi in the Divine Omnipresence of Bhagawan here in, Prasanthi Nilayam.
Traditional 'Varkari Sampradaya' of Maharashtra, wherein lakhs and lakhs of devotees walk on foot to the Holy Abode Of Lord Vitthala at Pandharpur every year in the month of Ashada, had its symbolic replica here this morning, with the grand entry of Sai Vitthala in a special palanquin, to the score of devotional song.
Adding colour to the 'gaiety galore', youth from the State danced to the tune of a Maratha devotional number, sharing devotional ecstasy of the grand festive occasion.
State President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Maharashtra & Goa, Sri Ramesh Sawant addressed the devotees speaking of the greater significance of the grant festivity. Referring to some of the popular saintly figures from the State, of the likes of Jnanadev, Namadev, Tukkaram, etc, and the meaning-significance, Sri Sawant also enumerated on the major service activities being done under the auspices of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Oraganisations.
A music programme by Ms Mugdha Vaishampayan, a budding talent from the State, enthralled the audience for the next one hour, presenting an array of Hindi and Marati songs.
Bhajans continued and the session ended with Mangala Arathi.

Ashadhi Ekadashi Celebrations over the Year at Prasanthi Nilayam - Photo Gallery
Ashadi Ekadashi is a religious procession and is celebrated during the months of June - July (Aashaadh Shukla paksha). It consists of a procession in which people collectively go singing and dancing the glory of the Lord in what are called as ‘Dindis’. This custom of taking out a holy procession is said to have started as far back as the year 1810.
Tradition has it that two of the greatest devote...es of the Lord from the State of Maharashtra, Sant Gyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram had set out on a pilgrimage to the temple of Lord Vittala from their respective places and reached the Divine Abode in fifteen days time on the auspicious day of Ashadi Ekadashi.
Vithal, or Vitthal, or Vithoba, or Pandurang (a form of Krishna ) is worshipped in some temples in Kerala. Vitthala's original temple is at Pandharpur, Maharashtra. Pandharpur is located 65 km West of Sholapur, on the banks of the river Bhimarathi also known as Chandrabhaga . Vitthala is said to have been derived from the word Vishnu in Kannada. Panduranga is a Sanskritized form of Pandarga, the old name of Pandharpur.
Following this tradition established by these great souls centuries ago, even today devotees from the entire length and breadth of the state of Maharashtra and even from outside the state set out for Pandharpur, to the famous temple of Lord Vittala, wearing basil beads and singing His glory on a pilgrimage scheduled so that they reach Pandarpur on the auspicious day of Ashadi Ekadashi to have His Divine Darshan. This pilgrimage is traditionally called the Dindi Yatra.
A similar (yatra) procession is being carried out by the devotees of Sri Sathya Sai Baba by carrying a palanquin with the Paduka (sandals) of our beloved Sai from Dharmavaram to reach Prashanti Nilayam (Puttaparthi) (a distance of about 35 kilometres) on the day of Ashadi Ekadasi.
