Hi All!
I want to develop a research methodology curriculum for all those participating in SAHRI.
What do I mean?
- an article on how to read and evaluate a study? (RCT, case report, cross sectional studies etc.)
- an article on how to design a particular type of a study (RCT, case-controlled) with examples and pros/cons.
Why?
- one of the principles is that we want EVERYONE to get involved, and
to get everyone up-to-speed, it would be helpful to have a core
curriculum that everyone can use and be a contributing member of the
group.
How can you help?
- I need citations, articles, and those who think they actually have
interest/expertise, to actually compile a manual for the group.
If someone already has this prepared (ie a faculty member) please feel
free to let me know.
How does this all fit in?
- to create review of literature, we all must use the same principles
- Plus, I had told everyone that this will be an educational
enterprise, everyone will have an opportunity to obtain additional
skills.
Update on how where we are going.
There are a few things that we are doing:
- I am working with Kennedy ganti (I should really say, Kennedy is
working) on creating a website/web server for our organization.
In the mean time I have created a weblog (BLOG) on
sahri.21publish.com
to put my thoughts (instead of emailing to everyone whenever I think of
something). You can contribute to the BLOG as well as having your
own BLOG.
- I am working with Steve Shu, a management consultant and a good
friend of mine from days in engineering, who currently runs his own
consulting firm and is the COO of
21publish.com in creating a business
and knowledge base model that we can use to effectively collaborate
across the globe.
- For those who are interested, I have also created a wiki page for
SAHRI that I think we will use initially to get all the literature
reviewed in fraction of time (by having EVERYONE who wants to across
the globe contribute). For those who don't know what I am talking
about, please see
wikipedia.com (an open encyclopedia created by the
internet users, which is probably the greatest thing since
Google. Also, take a look at what I want to do at
sahri.pbwiki.com. Click on DiseaseList. Check out the
format.
