First of all, congratulations to all of the third years on their "final
day" as a resident.
I want to give a quick update on what I have been up to. I met with
Dr. Ranjita Misra, from Texas A&M who is the PI of Diabetes among
Indians in America. A multicentered, randomized epidemiological study.
It was great to meet someone who has spend past few years being
involved in many projects dealing with South Asians. I have asked her
to join our group and tell her colleagues about us.
I am also in the final stages of finalizing our wiki database
(sahri.pbwiki.com), follow links for Disease Names and then Prostate
Cancer to see a sample.
Once it is ready, I plan to use our contacts to get the news of our
goals and work to medical schools/residency programs across the US.
The way I look at it, If we contact 10,000 medical students/residents,
we will get at least 100 VERY DEDICATED people (1%) who will believe in
what we want to do and will have the TIME now.
My next project is to find enough mentors for those 100 people (or
more) and more importantly, after the review process, what's next?
Please share your thoughts (don't be shy), I know every one has some
thoughts about this...
