On May 7th, 2009, the Korean American Historical Society (KAHS) and the Wing Luke Asian Museum will hold an official ceremony to announce their collaboration in promoting the preservation of cultural heritage. The two Seattle-based organizations will join their efforts to provide support for the maintenance and availability of institutional records and the growing KAHS oral history archive. Local media will attend the ceremony.

Beginning in the fall of 2008, the Korean American Historical Society launched the ‘Korean War and the Lives of the Korean Americans in Washington State.’ This important oral history project documents the diversity of Korean immigrant experiences and makes it available to the larger public, researchers, and students. This archive will be housed at the Wing Luke Asian Museum.

The event will begin at 4:00 PM and will be followed by a public lecture entitled “War Memories and Memory War: Wansŏ Pak’s Half-Century Quest for Truth of the Korean War” delivered by Dr. Seung-Hee Jeon. These events take place during an ongoing Korean War exhibit entitled ‘Still Present Past’ at the Wing Luke Museum.
