**Post-war Reconstruction and Nation-Building in ROK & DPRK (1950s-1970s)**
Ok the title sounds a little dry but the study group will not be! How
do I know? Cuz I know how Jennifer Yim and Irene Park roll - if they
can hold the attention of the teens and children they work with daily,
they can definitely educate and entertain us on this critical period
in our history.
Anyway they didn't make up the title. As part of our support for
members going to Korean on KEEP this year, the next 4 study groups
essentially focus on Korean history and activism from armistice (1953)
to present. This first one in the series will address the 2 decades
immediately following the Korean War in both North and South Korea,
addressing military dictatorships, workers rights, industrialization &
development, and gender & class struggles. You'll be able to get a
broader understanding of the foundations of many of the issues present
today.
ALL WELCOME.
Food will be provided; please bring a few bucks to pitch in if you can
(and dues if you're a member). Hope to see you there!
