Hi, Everyone!

I hope you all have had wonderful summers.

I wanted to know if anyone might be interested in a bootcamp class this Fall in the park.

Through a friend of mine, I met this awesome triathlon coach/spinning instructor/boot camp instructor named Josh Arden. I'm sure some of you have heard of the crazy Barry's Bootcamp, where he was an instructor both in CA and NY. He also teaches spinning at Flywheel in Manhattan. He's no joke.

He's branched out on his own, and I took one of his classes a couple of weeks ago and really liked it.
I had the idea and mentioned to him that Park Slope and Prospect Park would be a great place to get a class going.  He was totally into the idea.

I don't have a vested interest in pushing this guy's class, but I thought it would be fun to have a workout with fellow moms and friends in the park. And, I know that so many of us have kids heading to preschool this Fall, so we'll likely have some mornings free. I'm thinking the camaraderie would help me get my butt back into gear on the exercise front.

He said he could be available in the mornings at 9:30 or 10:30.
For a drop-in class, it's only $20, which I think is pretty reasonable. The price seems steep for a monthly, unlimited pass ($200), but I'm not sure many of could even commit in that kind of way anyway. I think if enough of us are interested, we could get him to come 2-3 mornings a week, and then you could pick and choose what day(s) suit your schedule/mood.

Let me also say that before going I totally feared that I would be yelled at, shamed, and brow beaten a la "bootcamp"-style. But, Josh is actually really lovely and not intimidating at all.  He is also highly effective -- I had trouble sitting down for a week (but mind you I haven't worked out in 5 years!).

I'm attaching some info he pulled together on what's he proposing for the class and some background on him.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Paula,

I may be interested once a week if a class were offered M or W at 9:30, as I could get there after drop off. It would also depend on how that first one went-while I do the elliptical 2-3x a week, I am super afraid that a bootcamp would do me in!

Hi, Jenn:

I'm in the same boat!  But, it's definitely worth a try. I think you would be surprised how strong you (and we all) are.  Chasing after a toddler (and for you 2!) can be some workout.

Anyone else want to try? I think Josh would give the first class free to see how people like it.

Paula,

It doesn't work for me this time around, but it's a great idea. I loved a moms' exercise group last I participated in one.

Hope you get a critical mass!
Miriam

I should really be working in my studio during that preschool time...but maybe!
