A new local mom - welcome!

Hi fellow parents - Happy New Year!!

With the cold weather + a new nutty work/childcare set up, I really miss the regular meet-ups at the library! I recently met a new-to-the-neighborhood mom, Francesca (cc'd here) who is hoping to get connected with other local parents with 3 year olds. 

Jenn, Paula - are you guys able to add her to this distribution so she can get our collective wisdom on toddler-hood in Park Slope (even if you live in Westchester, NJ, etc.!)? She'll reach out to the PSP folks to get on the larger distribution list.

Francesca's husband is Lyle - and she has a 5 year old (Finn) & a 3 year old (Luca).

Welcome!! 

And hope to see some of you soon. Work shifted again for me so I'll be frequenting the 9th Street Y on Thursday mornings for their indoor gym with Ben + Natalie's taking a ballet class at the Armory on Tuesday afternoons. Anyone else on a similar schedule??

I'll also wanted to add another local mom, Dorle. Dorle's son Robin went to school with Dario this last semester, and they become best buddies.

He's also 3.

Hope to see some of you all soon, as well. Dario's in school T/W/TH, so Mondays and Fridays are our free days.

Hello! And thank you for adding me to the list :)

It would be lovely to meet up with some of you guys whenever you are around. Luca (my 3 year old) is at Brooklyn free space until 3pm so we can meet for play dates any day after 3pm or at weekends. I will also have big brother Finn in tow. (He is 5, at kindergarten in PS 321 - anyone else with kindergarten siblings?)

We are on 2nd street between 5th and 6th are if anyone is around and fancies getting together sometime for coffee and/or playdate? just email or text me at the number below.

I am very happy to host playdates at ours, most probably after a couple of weeks as our belongings only arrived from London yesterday and as we do t yet have enough storage cupboards to contain everything, our house is a veritable jungle of stuff (which the kids would probably love but I guess our stuff may not survive the exploration and adventure... ;)

In the meantime, have a great week all and looking forward to meeting some of you soon.

Hi all,

I wondered if you could give me some advice please. 

We are trying to plan our family household & grocery budget and as we are not only new to Park Slope but new to the States (we moved from London, Uk two weeks ago), we have no idea what normal looks like!

I am sure there is a wide range but I would be very grateful if any of you with a four person (2 adults 2 kids) household could possibly share a rough guide to your monthly or weekly family/household expenses?

Things like:

- Grocery budget

- packed lunches

- School / nursery supplies

- ad hoc things for the house

- Kids gifts (birthday parties...)

- Laundry (I still can't quite get my head around the fact we don't have a washer/dryer in the apartment!)

- weekend family activities

- date nights (babysitting & dinner out)

- after school/nursery clubs/enrichment

- anything else, I'm sure I've forgotten things!

If you don't mind sharing, that would be really helpful! (Of course feel free to email confidentially to me only if that's better for you).
