Hello,
A month has gone past since the drama for political mileage has started between the politicians of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Latest reports show that vehicles crossing the Tamilnadu border to Kerala are being destroyed. So thought of sending out this warning message to all who plan to cross the Tamilnadu border to Kerala. The route which could be the most dangerous could be the Coimbatore-Palakkad route. Would like everyone (especially who is driving a Kerala registration vehicle) to be very careful while driving this route. The alternate routes to Kerala are
1. Bangalore – Mysore – GundalPet
(a) Bandipur – Gudalloor – Nadukani Churam – Vazhikkadavu
(b) Bandipur – Thamarasheeeery Churam - Sulthanbathery
2. Bangalore – Mangalore – Kasargod
1 (b) and 2 are routes which do not cross the Tamilnadu border anywhere. Request you to opt these if travelling with family.
In case you have any more info that could help the group, please share them.

Ya. I expect KA vehicles also to be checked. The Gudalur where attacks are happening is near Kumili. The one we travel through is much north of it.
I expect the Vaiko and monkeys like him to stage a procession along the NH to block all vehicles from Tamilnadu to Kerala.

PS: Does anyone have an AK-47 to rent out?
The problem with the route is that the churam is being repaired, and vehicles are restricted. Now since everyone will choose this route (as no TN in this route), I expect this route to be jam packed.

I guess we can try Goodalloor route only. Main problem is theni Kumali route. I guess there is small incidents in Coimbatore as well. Nothing reported in Goodalloor. Its more rumour than actual truth. I have travelled 9th through Coimbatore and came back on 11th through Goodalloor. I could not find any issue. So we can put a brave face and go. I called a friend who is staying at Gudalloor (Near Ooty, not the Kumili one). He said that all the boreders are being closed for today as there are some protests. Depending on the outcome, we might have to plan the route. He believes that Gudalloor will not have much problems, as there are lot of Malayalees there. Reports say that all KL regn vehicles are getting attacked enroute to Palakkad from Coimbatore. We should actually catch the people who are throwing stones. May be we might be able to mentor another Abinav Bindra or a gold medal for javelin throw or shot put!
I will be calling my friend at Gudalloor and get an idea of how bad the situation is there on Friday. So in case someone is planning to travel via Gudalloor, and wants to know how the situation is, please do call me.

We are going on Sat morning.
Nope! As of now we are 10 travelling in 2 cars. I have not heard anyone else who might take their car. If a car is available, I think you might get a couple more to travel with you.
In case anyone is planning to take their cars during the next couple of weeks (and if they are open for car pooling), please share your plans.

Just to start putting an end to this thread.. We also had very less issues travelling to and back from Kerala via Gudalloor (Gundalpet – Bandipur – Gudalloor – Nadukani – Vazhikkadavu). The Bangalore Mysore highway was almost jam packed on our way back yesterday.
